Minister of Education in Putland, Somalia Discusses the Development of Education in the Region

Ali Haji Warsame, the Minister of Education in Putland, Somalia, has visited the UAE at the invitation of Al Maktoum Foundation, accompanied by Tayeb Abdullah Babacar, the Foundation’s representative, and the Director of the school of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Bosaso, in order to discuss the educational sector, especially in the school that is supervised by the Foundation both financially and administratively.

The Minister of Education in Putland, said that the country appreciates the great efforts and contribution that the Foundation is providing in Somalia. He also stressed that the Foundation’s work in Africa aimed at establishing and deploying eligible schools across the country, as well as providing specialist staff in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This was accomplished in Somalia, through the success of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum School’s system, due to its attractive and stable environment, where students can achieve unprecedented success by participating actively in society, which will pay off in their country Somalia.

He stated, “In our visit, we discussed with Mirza Al Sayegh, the Director of the Office of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, and Mohammad Obaid bin Ghannam, the Foundation’s Secretary-General, the means for developing the level of education through this school. We also made a proposal for the establishment of another high school in Putland, due to the large and growing interest in the schools of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid in Somalia.”

The Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Education is Somalia is providing full support to Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid schools in the country.

On his part, Tayeb Abdullah Babacar, the Foundation’s representative in Putland said that the school’s work is not limited to the educational field only, but it has a growing role in the field of Islamic studies and encouraging female education up to university level in order to graduate educated women informed about their religion.

He pointed out that this current visit achieved fruitful results, regarding coordination on various fields, especially developing work and benefiting from experiences, in addition to the proposal of establishing a new high school in Putland.

Putland is well known for the finest types of Arabic Bakhour, fish and livestock, as well as its strategic location between the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
